Señores, voy a cantarles
Un corrido verdadero
Versos que yo le compuse
A mi compadre, La Pero
Su nombre, Jesus Govea
Por todos muy conocido
Trabajador y sincero
Y también muy buen amigo
Su pasión eran las armas
Y las peleas de gallos
Y sonriendo me decía

Me and my dad made a song. He wrote the lyrics and the general outline of what he wanted the song to sound like, and I helped adjust the song structure and fixed some of the lyrics up with the addition of a rhyme scheme, and finally put it to music/did vocals for it. Originally I had only made a Mariachi demo and released it exclusively on YouTube 2 years ago, not just so my father could easily access it to relisten at his leisure, but to test the waters of me doing music in my first language: Spanish. Luckily, I got a lot of love and support, and now it's finally got an official release, including the original Mariachi demo from 2 years ago, mastered and sounding better than ever, and a new acoustic version!
Dedicated to Jesus "Peronicua" Govea, one of my dad's best friend from back when he lived in Michoacán, Mexico.
RIP March 19th, 1961 - June 4th, 2021
